Say It Anyway - Sound In The Signals Interview

📸 WOLFGET MEDIA

I recently had the opportunity to interview Say It Anyway. We discussed their upcoming song “Vampires”, their recording process, artwork, their music video concept, the potential for more new songs, and more. Check it out below.

First, thanks for the interview.

Loz: No, thank you! Scenes like ours thrive on people and communities sharing their love for music. It's through platforms like this that we can connect, share our passion, and keep the spirit of our music alive. Your support and interest are what make it all possible, so thank you.

You recently announced your song “Vampires” is coming out mid-August. How excited are you to release your first song from this new era and line-up of the band?

Loz: We’re incredibly excited! When Meg joined the band, we all felt an immediate surge of enthusiasm. Things got even more exciting when she shared her original acoustic version of ‘Vampires’ with us. Her songwriting was fantastic, and we all came together to transform it into the final version. This track marks a new chapter for us, and we can't wait for our fans to experience the fresh dynamic Meg brings to the band.

The last time we spoke you talked about “Vampires” being a song you were excited about. How does it feel to know the song will be out in a couple weeks?

Loz: Can't wait. We've sat on the song for a few months, played it live a couple of times and it's always evoked a great reaction, I can't wait for people to hear it and feel what we all still feel when hearing it & playing it.

I’ve checked out the clip that you released with the single announcement. It sounds great. Who did you record with this time around?

Loz: We recorded it all ourselves then sent it to the very talented George Collins in Newcastle to mix & Grant Berry to master (they both did a great job, don't you think!) This was a lot of fun as it meant we could really experiment with ideas and try things out before committing it to tape. I think we ended up with about 30 + Guitar tracks & about 50 + of vocals, experimenting with different vocal layers, counter melodies and more.

I really like the single artwork, the colors, and the way you designed the vampire teeth. Who came up with the concept for it and designed the artwork?

Loz: Our very own Daniel Baker designed it & did a beautiful job. He's done all our artwork so far, consistently capturing the intricate details and the message we aim to convey. The first impression that single artwork presents is always such a challenge, but Daniel has made sure it instantly resonates with listeners just as we want it too.

It looks like you’ve been teasing a music video to accompany the song. Is that accurate? If so, what can people expect from the video?

Loz: Meg murdering everyone, pretty lights, pizza & a big church.

Is this only a single or can we expect more new music and/or do you have plans to work on an EP or album anytime soon? If so, what can you tell us so far?

Loz: We're currently working on a couple tracks, in the studio, at home & in our practice space, with a view to have them all out by the end of the year. We played one live for the first time the other day and someone said it gave them goosebumps, so that's cool!

Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else that you would like to add?

Loz: Don't be a fascist.
