No Problemo! - Sound In The Signals Interview

I recently had the opportunity to interview No Problemo!. We discussed their upcoming song “MVP”, artwork, when to expect more music, performing at Fauxchella and upcoming shows, and more. Check it out below.

First, thanks for the interview.

Thanks for having us!

Some people may recognize some of you from other bands, but can you tell me how you started the band for those who may be unfamiliar with it?

This whole thing was originally my (Dane) solo project. Sage (drums) and Gaven (bass) joined in when I wanted to do a full band one off show. After the first line up of members got switched around we took a break and worked on our other projects until Cait (guitar) and Alec (guitar) joined the band!!

Your new song “MVP” comes out August 9th. What was the writing process like for the song?

The shell of the song was written over text between Alec and myself. I had melody and a bunch lyrics and he was able to build guitar around that. Once we brought it to the band that’s when fun stuff like the bit crusher and some of the cool effects were added. Side note I tried to play harmonica on the chorus, but I don’t know how to play harmonica so it never made the cut.

I’ve had the chance to listen to it and I really like how it blends emo with elements of pop/punk. It sounds like a good summer song. What did you want to accomplish with the song musically?

I wanted to make a song where the lyrics kinda took charge and left you sitting in your thoughts while the instruments gradually build as the chorus goes on. The song has two verses and an instrumental chorus and our goal was to make the two verses hit to where you don’t need to say anything after. I’m not sure if we accomplished that or not; I hope we did.

Both this artwork and the artwork for a previous single have had a light pink aesthetic for the artwork. Is there any significance to the color?

Gaven said “I thought it looked cool”. I don’t think there’s much meaning to it. The first single art was pink and the EP art is pink so I think we just wanted to keep the aesthetic of it throughout.

This will be your second single. Is this more of a standalone single or are you working towards an EP or album? If so, what can you tell us so far?

This is the second single off our debut EP that we haven’t announced yet coming out later this year!!

You played Fauxchella. I saw Tequila Mockingbird filled in on drums for it. How did that show go?

Fauxchella and Joe were both awesome. We’re extremely grateful to get on a loaded festival with barely being a band (as of this lineup) for about year. Joe is one of our best friends and when our drummer couldn’t make it Joe was very nice and willing to learn these songs in a pinch. Go listen to Tequila Mockingbird!!!!

Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else that you would like to add?

Thanks again for having us!! I’m not sure when this will be out, but we’re going on tour with our dawgs from the u.p. Small Comforts. We’ll be taking on the mid west August 8th through the 11th come to a show! We also have some cool announcements such as more shows and more music coming real soon keep your eyes peeled.
