Sound In The Signals - 2024 Anticipated Music Releases
With this year's list we decided that we would choose artists who we believe will release an EP or album this year. Some artists have announced and/or confirmed releases and others are listed here because they have been in the studio or plan to record this year. We’ve decided to highlight some artists on the list and list the remaining projects. This list is in no particular order. Of course, there are numerous other releases we will anticipate once announcements come and we will undoubtedly miss some now. Stay up to date with new announcements and releases here and via our social media accounts. Check out our anticipated music list below.
Neck deep - ‘Neck Deep’
The singles they’ve already released have been really good. A lot of people are seeing this as sort of a return to form for the band. I really liked their previous album and I expect this one to be as good or better.
44blonde - ‘Rehab Runaway’
I’ve heard 44blonde say this release will have 9 songs and be out in March. I think it will be great for fans of artists like Mod Sun, Smrtdeath, and Lil Lotus. He’s really the next one up for that sound if you’re a fan of any of those artists.
Stand Still - ‘TBA’
The band has been talking about releasing an album in various interviews. Honestly I’m expecting this to be one of the best releases of the year.
Alkaline Trio - ‘Blood, Hair, & Eyeballs’
This band is one of the legacy bands who continue to write good songs. With Matt Skiba officially out of blink-182 I expect a pretty big statement album from Alkaline Trio.
..you’re the worst - ‘TBA’
This band wrote one of the better EPs of 2023. I think the next release will be even better.
House Parties - ‘Side Effects’ EP
I’ve long been a champion of this band and I could tell pretty early on that they had a lot of talent. I can see them gaining a lot of popularity in the pop/punk scene with the support of Equal Vision and the right songs.
Jaden Hossler - ‘TBA’
Hossler is aiming to take his sound in a few directions or so he’s been saying in interviews. His debut album was one of the better pop/punk revival albums. I’m really interested to hear a follow-up.
ASkySoBlack - ‘TBA’
This band writes great songs. I expect the music they’ve been working on might be some of their best material yet. I have no clue where they’ll go sonically, but I’m really interested to hear where they end up.
408 - ‘TBA’
The band has been in the studio working with John Feldmann. I expect their upcoming album will have fantastic production and I think it’s going to help them level up.
Girlfriends - ‘TBA’
The band has been talking about working on their third album. Everything this band has released has been great. I think the next album will continue the trend.
Lil Aaron - ‘TBA’
I feel like this album has been delayed for a long while, but Lil Aaron says it will be out this year. With all the behind-the-scenes work with other artists and bands he’s been busy, but my gut is telling me that he’s saved a lot of great songs for this album.
Bottom Bunk - ‘TBA’
This is one of the better newcomer bands in the emo scene. They’ve teased that an EP is coming at some point. I think it’s going to be a notable emo/punk release this year.
Super American - ‘TBA’
You can’t deny that this band has great songwriters. I believe their upcoming album will be their best one yet.
Birthday Dad - ‘TBA’
If you’re looking for a modern-day Bright Eyes or Elliot Smith then this is who you’re looking for. I expect the new music to be even better than the debut album. I could see everything being leveled up with the upcoming music.
Sum 41 - ‘Heaven :x: Hell’
I’m admittedly more interested in the Heaven side of this album. “Landmines” was probably my favorite song that the band has released since 2007s ‘Underclass Hero’. With that being said, I think this album will cater to every Sum 41 fan.
Excuse Me, Who Are You? - ‘TBA’
This band is primed to become one of the bigger heavier emo bands. I think that they’ll have a big year in the DIY emo scene with this release.
Arcadia Grey - ‘TBA’
The band’s long-awaited album will finally be released on Smartpunk. If the first single is any indication, then I expect a more polished album and elevated songwriting.
SeeYouSpaceCowboy - ‘TBA’
I think we’ll hear a slightly more experimental sound on this release. After hearing recent singles I’m thinking the album will have a nice mix of clean and aggressive vocals. I think it will be the culmination of everything the band has been experimenting with since they began.
Dua Lipa - ‘TBA’
“Houdini” is such a catchy song. I think this will be one of the better mainstream pop albums this year.
Montclair - ‘TBA’
Ephyra Records had a great 2023. Montclair released some great music in 2023, but I think they only scratched the surface. I think their upcoming album is going to be one of the better albums of the year.
Tequila Mockingbird - ‘TBA’
The sheer force of the vocals and the aggressive acoustic strumming is all part of the magic of this project. I think that will continue, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear some refinements and experimentation on upcoming music.
Career Day - ‘TBA’
This band has really great pop/punk songs with hints of emo. I think they always have an interesting approach with lyrics. I believe everything will be a little more refined on their next release. They are on the cusp of breaking out to a bigger audience.
One Step Closer - ‘TBA’
This band is on the verge of having one of the stellar years that Militarie Gun, Anxious, and Koyo have had. I think this album will be extremely notable and have some great songs.
Machine Gun Kelly - ‘TBA’
After a couple pop/punk influenced records that had a pretty massive impact a few years ago I’m really interested to hear where he goes. I enjoyed the pop/punk albums. Originally MGK was saying he planned to make a rap album after his two “rock” albums. I’m not sure that would interest me. I’m more so hoping he’ll mix it up and feature a few different sonic elements. There’s been talk that he’s working with Travis Barker again, but it’s unknown to what extent.
LØLØ - ‘TBA’
She’s talked about an album in a few interviews. LØLØ is easily one of my favorite new era Hopeless Records artists. She toes the line between pop/punk and singer/songwriter really well. Everything she released in 2023 was really good. I expect the album will feature her best, most cohesive songs yet.
Showoff - ‘TBA’ EP
Showoff released the first single from their upcoming EP, "Bitter Pill", and it’s great to hear a classic, albeit underrated, legacy pop/punk band back at it. It will be fun to hear what this band has accomplished on their new music with a new line-up.
Landon Barker - ‘TBA’
Sonically, his debut single fell in line with the pop/punk revival sound of artists like Jaden Hossler, Huddy, and MGK. While that sound may not be as fresh as when MGK kicked it off in 2020, Barker’s debut single “Friends With My Ex” is solid. It shows that when done right that sound can still work. He’s worked with similar people as some of those artists like Nick Long and Travis Barker. He’s been previewing new songs on Instagram and I’m interested to see where he takes his music.
Foreign Hands - ‘TBA’
The band’s most recent single “Conditioned For A Head-On Collision” is great. I really liked the direction that they took with it. I’m hoping we hear more songs that continue the band’s evolution. This band could potentially have a huge 2024.
The Starting Line - ‘TBA’
They have been teasing that there’s potential for new music and possibly a new EP for a long time. They recently played new song “Blame” live so 2024 may finally be the year.
Vampire Weekend - ‘TBA’
The band has confirmed that a new album has been completed. They don’t have one bad or mediocre album in their entire discography. I expect their upcoming release to be another great album.
Sueco - ‘TBA’
Sueco has been teasing a new album. His debut album was great. It rode the wave of the pop/punk revival sound and it was one of the better albums from that wave. I’m interested to see what direction the new music will go in.
Oolong - ‘TBA’
I thought 2023 would be a breakout year for Oolong, but their sophomore album never came out. They’re saying 2024 will finally be the year. I’m interested to hear this album. I feel like it could be a big emo/punk album. I hope they still have the momentum in 2024 that they had going into 2023.
The Lyrical Lemonade Album - ‘All Is Yellow’
Cole Bennett, and his company Lyrical Lemonade, have been everywhere the last few years. He’s directed videos for tons of artists. This compilation album feels like it could be the bookend of the last few years and the start of a next chapter. I’m interested to hear who will be featured and how well it all works together.
Games We Play - ‘Life’s Going Great’
This was supposed to be released in 2023, but it was delayed. The singles have been really interesting. I like the well produced melodic pop/punk/emo approach of the songs and lyrically they’re interesting.
