You recently released your new EP ‘Somewhere In Between’. Can you tell me about writing and recording the EP?
Of course! Somewhere In Between was written between March and May 2023. It was recorded at Dead River Studios with Ryan Staples and mixed/mastered by Tyler Floyd!
This was your second EP this year. Were a lot of these songs written around the same time or not? What type of themes did you explore on the new songs?
Yeah! So after Couch Songs was released we didn't stop writing, some of the songs on the EP were written right around that time frame!
Why did you choose "Pop Songs" and "Mr. Weir's Dead Friends" as the singles?
So we decided on "Pop Songs" and "Mr. Weir's Dead Friends" because to me at least, it shows the direction our writing has gone since our first EP!
"Pop Songs" was written right after our first EP was released while "Mr. Weir's Dead Friends" was the last song written for this EP.
You also announced you’ll be working with Leave It At That Records for a cassette release. What made you want to work with them?
I have worked with Leave It At That Records in the past through my other band The Casper Fight Scene and the decision was a really easy one. They do an amazing job on all of their projects, they're easy to work with and they're just all around awesome people. Much love to Leave It At That Records!
What can you tell me about the cassette in terms of packaging and colors so far?
They are a VERY slick yellow on black tape. Big fan of the packaging.
One thing that’s really cool about Leave It At That is that they also create a zine that comes with all of their cassettes. What type of content will be featured in yours?
A lot of background on us as a band, lyrics to the songs and more!
