Jughead’s Revenge - Sound In The Signals Interview
Merle Gonzalez |
First, thanks for the interview.
Very much appreciated. Thank you.
You recently released your new song “Bridges”. Can you tell me about writing and recording the song?
It seemed that during the Covid lockdown, people like myself took a look at what was going on in their lives and made change for the better.
Bridges takes a look at how what you once thought was what you wanted, or what you felt was good for you turned out to be the things that were actually holding you back the whole time.
The song is from your upcoming EP ‘Vultures’. Can you tell me about recording the EP? How was the studio experience and how long did you work on it?
Vultures was the longest recording session for our shortest record. Mainly because of Covid delays. It was worth it in the end.
It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jay Stolo at Straight Jacket Studios in Fullerton, CA. Everything done in four days.
The artwork for the EP is interesting. Who came up with the concept for it and designed it?
Dylan Garrett Smith created the artwork for the album cover. We gave him an idea of what we were looking for, and he came back with something that fit the vibe of the record perfectly. He’s amazing.
What’s the meaning behind it?
I think everyone has their own Vulture to deal with. Things that take the life right out of them. This could be depression, addiction, a toxic relationship, a toxic job that you hate and it hates you, chronic illness. Things of that nature just depicted by a Vulture.
You’re releasing a vinyl pressing. How important is physical media like vinyl, CDs, or cassettes to your band?
Tangible media is important to me. The cover art, the sequencing, liner notes etc. I think these things matter.
You’re heading to Europe to play shows in June. What can fans expect from those shows? Do you have any surprises planned?
Finishing the tour will be the biggest surprise. Just kidding, we are absolutely stoked to get back to Europe and can’t wait to party with everyone.
Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else that you would like to add?
Thank you for having me. Keep an eye out for the video for “I’ll Be Seeing You” out soon.
