Instagram - Making Comments Safer
Instagram announced a new option for users who wish to block inappropriate or offensive content. Kevin Systrom, CEO & Co-founder, said that when his partner Mike and he first created Instagram they wanted a welcoming community where people could share their lives. The community, now grown to 500 million, creates fun, inspiring, creative photos. However, one aspect he mentioned that they are still working on is creating a safer and more positive community.
To promote a safe and positive place, they will be introducing some features that ensure that happens. The first is a keyword moderation tool that anyone can use. You'll find a new "Comments" tool when you click the 'gear' icon on your profile. You can choose words that you consider offensive and then they will be hidden from your posts. You can choose your own words or use Instagram's default words. This adds to recent updates like being able to delete comments and the ability to report inappropriate comments and users.
