Ronnie James Dio's hologram debuted over the weekend at Germany's Wacken Open Air Festival alongside former band mates. Creators Eyellusion have been working over a year to create the late singer's hologram. They hope it will tour with Dio Disciples, a band formed in his memory by his friends and band mates, next year. His close friends and family approve of the hologram, but did find it a bit scary, at first.
Rolling Stone reported that Dio's widow said, "
I cried the first time I saw it. It was quite, quite scary. Our crew, when they first saw it at rehearsal, they were in tears. It's absolutely amazing". They modeled the hologram after recordings, photos, and videos.
