Dolph Lundgren (
Rocky IV, The Expendables) will be joining
Arrow as a new villain in season 5. The executive producers spoke at the Television Critics Association event and told fans the season's flashbacks will be set in Russia. Lundgren will play Russian villain Kovar. You might remember Taiana asked Oliver to take Kovar down as a final request. Season 5 will be the end of the flashbacks since they follow the years Oliver was missing. Oliver will be recruiting and training new members for his team in the present storyline.
It is worth mentioning that Kovar, also known as Red Star in past comics, was in an alternate timeline of the Flashpoint event.
The Flash plans to cover Flashpoint this season, so there could be a tie-in there.
Arrow premieres on Wednesday, October 5th on The CW.
