Night Argent – Sound In The Signals Interview
Alternative pop/rock band Night Argent released their self-titled EP on April 22nd. They have been working with John Feldmann (frontman of Goldfinger, producer of Blink-182 and 5 Seconds of Summer) on a forthcoming EP and they will be on the 2016 Vans Warped Tour this summer. They recently told us what it was like winning the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands and the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, how Warped Tour is like summer camp, and what summer blockbuster soundtrack they would like to join.
First, thanks for the interview!
Thank you for having us!
Night Argent is building a good fan base and praise from many reviewers. You released your debut EP in April. Can you tell us a bit about your background and music for those who may be unfamiliar?
Night Argent is based out of the beautiful northwest, Pasco WA to be exact. We would like to think that our sound may resemble some Imagine Dragons, Awolnation, maybe even a little MuteMath.
You won the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands and the John Lennon Songwriting Contest which earned you the opportunity to work with John Feldmann and spots on the Vans Warped Tour in 2015 and 2016. Clearly there is something special about the band and your music. Can you tell us a bit about each of those contests and what each experience was like for you?
The two contests were far different experiences. For the Battle of the Bands it was exactly as it sounds, there was a bunch of online preliminary rounds that we got through and then it was time to start playing. We first went to Auburn, WA and played the one stop as part of the BOTB. We found out shortly after that we ended up getting selected as one of the final four bands in the country. That show was in LA and went pretty well for us as we ended up being the winner of the bands that performed live that night. The John Lennon Songwriting Competition I'm not even sure we were all aware we were part of, no one complained though when we found out that through another outlet we would be going back on tour.
You recently worked with John Feldmann on your forthcoming EP. We're all excited to see what comes from those sessions. Can you describe working with Feldmann and perhaps any advice he gave you? Do you have anything you can tease to fans who are waiting for the EP?
Working with Feldmann was a dream come true. The man has quite the little set up and team. Basically going down to write was like going to paradise. One thing that we picked up from John was his work ethic for sure. If you know him, you would know that he is go, go, go in all the right ways. He really pushed us and we can’t wait for you to hear what came from it. Not sure how much I can say yet, but we do have plans for a new EP coming very soon. Stay tuned for more details.
You played on the 2015 Vans Warped Tour and will be joining again this summer. You were recently named as one of the "Five Acts to Catch" on the tour. What was your experience like last time? What do you look forward to this year?
Last year on tour was a lot to take in at first, but after we got used to everything Warped Tour is we fell in love. Between the shows during the days with all the people who come out to each stop, and the bands we get to know and become friends with. Kind of like summer camp in a way. This year we are looking forward to everything again but also we plan to adjust and change some things so we can make a greater impact this go around.
The band was recently added to the 'Can You Hear Me?' Spotify Summer Playlist. What's on your summer playlist?
Some songs we have on repeat are any of the new Jon Bellion, Sonreal, Mutemath, Tame Impala…
A lot of reviewers describe your music as cinematic and expansive including your song "Kamikaze". They think it'd be perfect for a movie soundtrack. Is that something you would be interested in? Can you think of an existing movie that your music would fit with or describe the type of movie that would work with your music?
We would love to hear our song in some movies, let’s just throw it in with all the other great songs for Suicide Squad.
You're set to release your video for "Widowmaker" soon, you've been working on the upcoming EP, and you're joining the Warped Tour later this summer. What else is coming up for Night Argent? How can fans keep up?
The easiest way to stay up to date on all things Night Argent would be to follow us on our socials medias and hop on our emailing list.
Thanks for the interview. Do you have anything you would like to add?
Thank you! Nothing really to add, but we always want to thank our fans for the support you all have shown us so far. We are excited to share the new tunes with you in the near future!
