Dozer TX - Sound In The Signals Interview
I recently had the chance to interview Dozer TX. We discussed upcoming music, recent tours, and their new Split EP with Nominee. Check out the full interview after the jump!
First off thanks for the interview
Kevin: You’re welcome! We love talking about our music with new friends!
You just released a split with Nominee. Can you tell me how the split came together and what made you guys team up for this release?
I met Chris (Vocals – Nominee) somewhere on the east coast when he was playing shows with I Call Fives and I was playing shows with Handguns around 2011-2012. We met again last year at a show we were playing together with our bands now. It was a kind of “small world” moment. Since then, we’ve become super close with Nominee. They actually get upset if we stay anywhere other than the Nominee house when we play Austin. They’ve really become family to us. Chris asked me if we wanted to do a split together and I immediately said yes.
You contributed the track "Paternal" to the split. Can you tell me a little about the writing and recording process of the song?
This is an older song that we wrote when we formed in 2014. It’s about understanding differences in people close to you and accepting and loving them anyway. We recorded it (and another song we’ll be releasing on 7/29) at Blackroom Studios in Georgetown, TX. We love Blackroom and we love Luke and Joey. They work really hard to make everything sound great and it shows.
I'm a big fan of the artwork you used for the split. I like the vintage looking photo and the color scheme used. Who came up with the idea and what made it the perfect image for the artwork?
It was actually a resident of the Nominee house, Mike Villars. He rules! It’s very American dream esque and that’s sort of what inspired it.
Do you have any other plans to release more new music this year are you working on the follow up to 2015's Self Sabotage?
We’re heading back to Blackroom to record EP #2 sometime in September and we can’t wait!
I guess that about wraps it up. Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else you would like to add?
Just thank you for having interest in us! We just finished up a weekend run with our friends in Locket and Burning Years and we had a blast! Expect new music late fall or winter and check out the full EP when it comes out July 29th!
