Touché Amoré - "Palm Dreams" (Song Review)
Touché Amoré's new album Stage Four has some pretty big expectations. The first single from the album "Palm Dreams" intends to kick off things the right way. To me, a lot about this band hinges on Jeremy Bolm's vocal performance and lyrical prowess. Luckily on "Palm Trees" he hits you right in the jaw with his talents. This is exactly the vocal performance I wanted from Bolm on this first single. His vocals sound as intense, hungry, and throat-beaten as they have on previous Touché Amoré albums. This single really sets the tone this band has always had. They always seem to stay true to their roots and although there are a few new progressions here, they feel natural and not forced. It just seems like they continue to refine their sound. The clean melodic vocals in the song are a great example of that refinement. They also seem to have no desire to slow things down or water down their sound for album four. This passion coupled with the blistering, yet melodic music causes the song to speed by with intensity. It leaves me wanting to hit play for the second time. At under two and a half minutes it feels like it's just the right length. If this is what we can expect from the next album sign me up! I would definitely recommend this song and I think if you are a Touché Amoré fan then you'll probably have a huge smile on your face after a few listens. This is a great first single for this album. It made an impression and sets the tone nicely. Check this out!
