"Nashville" Officially Renewed For Season Five

Fan outrage sparked after the surprise cancellation of Nashville on ABC, but they have a lot to be happy about since CMT has officially revealed they will be bringing it back for season 5. It has been rumored, but now it's official. They've ordered 22 episodes. New showrunners Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick (Thirtysomething), who were enlisted to re-energize the show if brought back are on board. More importantly Connie Britton (Rayna) says she will return and many of the cast members were upset when the show was cancelled including Clare Bowen (Scarlett) who seems like a likely return. There hasn't been official news of which cast members will be returning or who new cast members might be yet. We look for that information soon.

CMT President, Brian Philips said, "CMT heard the fans. The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for Nashville has been overwhelming. Nashville is a perfect addition to our evolving line-up of big music specials, documentaries, and original series. We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we will treasure it like no other network. Nashville belongs on CMT."

CMT made a deal with Hulu to continue streaming the show with the new episodes being added to the service after they debut on TV.
