Lakefront - Sound In The Signals Interview

I recently had the chance to interview Lakefront. Check out the full interview after the jump!

First off thanks for the interview
Thanks for reaching out to us!

For anyone who isn't familiar with your band can you tell me  a little about how you got interested in music and came together and formed Lakefront?

All of us have been in and out of other bands for as long as we can remember, and they never seemed to work out. In 2014, us five got together and something just seemed to click. There’s a certain chemistry present that makes writing and performing very enjoyable.

Your new EP Since You've Left is out in June. Can you tell me  a little about the writing and recording process for this new EP?
Since You've Left was written oven the summer of 2015. We spent countless hours writing and adjusting to get something we felt very strongly about. We began recording in August of 2015, getting studio time on weekends so everyone could make it back home from college. Recording this EP was the most in depth project we've ever done. We faced countless adversities that delayed the project over and over, but we fought through. We went through a lot to deliver an EP we feel so incredibly strong about and we hope people enjoy it as much as we do.

You seem to be getting a good response from the new songs. I saw that you ran out of free downloads for them on Bandcamp. Have you been pleased with the response? Has it surprised you at all?
We are honestly shocked on the response we have been getting. Running out of free downloads on Bandcamp has never happened to us and we didn't know what to do. It's a good problem to have really, however we hate having to charge for our music. We've said it before, we have never cared to make money off our passion. The release of the two songs so far has gotten us very excited to release the full EP.

You did a video for "Alone". Can you tell me a little bit about how the video came together and why you picked "Alone" as the first single?
During the writing/recording process, we always found ourselves singing the main lead of Alone to ourselves at work or in class. We thought if it got stuck in our heads so much maybe it would do the same for others. Having a close friend in school for film and everyone home for a weekend resulted in a music video for what we think is a super catchy song.

The full EP will be released in June. Out of the remaining songs that haven't been released is there one you are really excited for people to check out and why?

Each song really brings something unique to the table, but one we are really happy with is "Redwood". The song acts as the softer relief on the EP. We wanted to record a song we could tone back and make feel really natural, while still sounding like it belongs on this EP. Very excited about that one.

I guess that about wraps it up. Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else you would like to add?
We couldn't be more excited to finally release Since You've Left. We put so much time/work into both writing and recording this EP and we can't wait for everyone to hear it. Seeing people enjoy our music is the best feeling we get as a band. We want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us and stuck with us and we can't wait to share Since You've Left with you.
