Trash Boat - "Strangers" Feat. Dan Campbell (Song Review)
A first single can say a lot about what to expect from an album. When I reviewed Trash Boat's EP I felt like the band had created a fun pop/punk release. It had those elements that you enjoy from bands like The Story So Far and Knuckle Puck. It didn't stick out from the pack as much as I would have liked. With this first single from the band's upcoming album, Nothing I Write You Can Change What You've Been Through, you can tell this band is stepping up their game big time. The first single features Dan Campbell (of The Wonder Years) who also produced the album. His appearance on the song is a much welcomed addition and helps add some hyperactive intensity that pairs well with the lead vocals as well as the melodic, fast, catchy pop/punk vibe of the music. The band creates something you always want from a band. They took what they had done previously and improved almost every aspect. It's just one song, so it may be too early to say they improved everything across the entire album, but the single shows vast improvement from almost every song on the EP. It's also worth noting that this is probably Trash Boat's best song to date. It's an impressive first single. You might want to start getting hyped for the album. The hype might just be worth it. If this song is any indication then this could be one of this summer's best pop/punk albums.
