Talking Movies & Shows: On Halloween (October 2015)

Happy Halloween, everyone! We're putting together a simple list of Halloween-inspired movies and shows. Some take place on Halloween and some just incite fear despite the time or location. We hope the list inspires you to check some of these out whether they are old favorites or new to you.

Classics: First, let's get the classics out of the way. It's hard to even think of Halloween or horror movies without thinking about these movies. They always prove to be scary and can definitely be a great way to spend the whole day if you choose to binge watch them.

Halloween franchise

A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise

Friday the 13th franchise

Scream franchise (why not throw in the MTV show, as well)

Night of the Living Dead

Fun: Maybe you don't want to be scared. Maybe you just want some slightly spooky or silly horror-esque moments. Then these are the choices for you. Some will remind you of your youth and some may be new to you. You're sure to have lots of laughs while watching these movies.

The Burbs

Hocus Pocus

Halloweentown

Ernest Scared Stupid

Casper

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Idle Hands

Donnie Darko

The Nightmare Before Christmas

At the Movies: If you're looking to go out to a movie and you want to keep it related to the holiday then you can check out these movies. These would be especially good for those with young trick-or-treaters.

Goosebumps

Hotel Transylvania 2

On Netflix: Netflix, you always have something for us to watch! We're listing a Netflix original show, which is great for binge watching and has finished its' final season this month just in time for Halloween. We also listed a movie you may not be aware of since it didn't seem to get much press, but it's enjoyable with laugh-out-loud moments and many quotable lines. Then there's a TV show that you can catch up with to find out how a zombie deals with failing love, finding different ways to enjoy brains, and solving murder mysteries every week. Truthfully you will probably be able to find most of the above recommendations on Netflix, as well.

Hemlock Grove seasons 1-3

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil

iZombie

On TV: You will, no doubt, also be able to find many of the movies listed above on television. We're including a long-desired title that many fans would watch whether it was Halloween or not. This show follows the fan loved movies and has already been renewed for another season. We haven't seen it yet, but we bet it's going to be very good.

Ash vs. Evil Dead

Feel free to talk about any that we listed or any that we didn't that you enjoy below. Stay safe and have a happy Halloween!
