Centerfolds - Sound In The Signals Interview

I recently had the chance to interview Centerfolds. Check out the full interview after the jump.

Your new EP Pushin Mongo just came out. Can you tell me a little about the writing and recording process of the EP?

Logan Himmler: Well after releasing our Debut EP "Setbacks & Letdowns" we were pretty eager to get back in the studio with some new tunes. Pushin Mongo was a blast for us to write, especially since it wasn't rushed like our previous Ep.

What were some of the inspirations for these new songs both musically and just the things going on in your life during the process?

The inspiration for this record lyrically came from a ton of different perspectives, rather it were things emotionally or things we needed to get off our chest. Every song has a different meaning/perspective and we wanted to show that throughout the Ep.

Pushin Mongo is your sophmore EP. What changed about the writing process this time around?

This EP wasn't rushed like our last one, so it had a lot more thought behind it. For example, we wrote most of Setbacks in the studio, whereas for Pushin Mongo we already had it written out before.

The song "Fake Friends" really sticks out to me. It has a cool vibe. Can you tell me a little about the writing process for that song?

We've all grown up and lost a lot of friends in the process. Seeing people come in and out of your social circle, is just a part of life. This song seems to be a fan favorite, which is pretty cool since it was the last song we wrote for this Ep.

You released the EP as a name your price on Bandcamp. Why did you decide to go that route and let it be available for free or donation?

We would rather our music be free and easily accessible for all our listeners.

You talk about Purenoise bands being other artists you like on your Facebook. What is it about that label and their bands that make you connect with them specifically?

We're friends with some of the bands on that label and have played with a good amount of them. They sign a lot of bands that release relatable music and we respect that.

What's coming up for you guys in 2015?

Right now we're currently booking a tour for October. We'll be playing places that we've never been before and are stoked on it.

I guess that about wraps it up. Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else you would like to add?

We just want to thank all of our listeners for supporting this band. It's crazy to see this band have such a positive response. Also, thank you for giving us the opportunity to do this interview.
