Losing Streak - Sound In The Signals Interview
I recently had the chance to interview Losing Streak. Check out the full interview after the jump.
For anyone who isn't familiar with your band what got you guys interested in music and how did Losing Streak form?
Dieter Unrath: After determining that our body building careers were coming to an end, we turned to music to strengthen our testorone levels. We had a plethora of very bad polka music projects, but eventually decided that playing power chords was more beneficial to our biceps.
You released a split 10" with The Offseason. How did it work out for you guys to team up for the split and how does it feel to have your music out on such a tangible product like a vinyl record?
They originally got in touch with us to help them fill a tour date in New Jersey. After playing that show together the idea had come up about doing a split together.
Having music out on vinyl is definitely a cool feeling. When we first started this band I didn't think that it would be a possibility for us, especially having the opportuity to collaborate with such a solid band and label. We are definitely very appreciative for The Offseason and Barrett Records for having us work with them on this project.
Are you guys big fans of vinyl at all? Do any of you have collections? If so what are some of your favorite vinyl pressings that you own?
Of course. It's tough to choose favorites, but the vinyl in my collection that I've played the most is probably "Jersey's Best Dancers" by Lifetime.
You've released the split and some EPs. Do you plan on releasing any new music in 2015? Any chance we will hear a full length album this year?
We are currently starting to write new material but we do not have any set in stone plans of what we want to do with it yet. A full length is definitely something we're considering, but the timeline on it is a bit foggy at this point.
The EP artwork for Permanent is interesting. Did you guys take that photo and also who is in the bunny costume taped to the power pole?
Our drummer took the photo of our guitarist in the bunny costume while our singer and bassist taped and tied him to the pole. Looking back, we were pretty lucky that we got the picture before someone in an Elmer Fudd costume came and killed Eric.
You guys have been out playing shows with tons of up and coming bands like McCalister and Picture Perfect. The scene seems to be really thriving right now. As a band writing music and playing shows what are some of your favorite things about the current scene? Is there anything you think would make it better?
It's definitely nice to see more people coming out to shows. A cool thing I've noticed about the current scene is that people check out acts that they don't know. One way we feel the scene could be improved is by giving free bagels at the door of each show.
I guess that about wraps it up. Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. Do you have anything else you would like to add?
