Talking Music: Any Album/Any Era/Any Genre (July 2014)

It's time again for the monthly weekend feature where I pick albums from any era or genre and briefly discuss why I think they are awesome. Check out the albums I picked to talk about this month after the jump!

Gorillaz - Demon Days
Released In 2005

This album is full of crazy sounds, collaborations, and concepts. It's so well constructed. I love the theme of the album. This is the perfect nighttime listening album. It's split into tracks but honestly, like all Gorillaz albums, it feels like one giant body of work.

White Zombie - Astro Creep 2000
Released In 1995

This album, to me, is the best thing Rob Zombie has ever been a part of. It's eleven nearly flawless songs. It has all the elements you've come to expect from Rob Zombie, but this was before you expected them, and it all sounds so fresh. I remember listening to this right after it came out and being blown away by the sound, the lyrics, and the awesome intensity. "More Human Than Human" is a great song and everything about the song is great.

Orchid - Chaos Is Me
Released In 1999

This album is a landmark album in terms of the "screamo" sound. It's abrasive, intense hardcore music and I really like the whole album. It's a great listen and the style and sound just feels so fresh when you listen to this album. Lyrically it's an awesome album and tons of the lyrics just stick out to me when I listen to this. It's the full package of an album.

Champion - Promises Kept
Released In 2004

This album has about everything you'd want in a hardcore/punk album. It's intense, well paced, and interesting. Lyrically it's a great album. If you've ever been a fan of straight edge hardcore punk and haven't heard this album then you should check it out! This album is jam packed full of great songs. "Next Year" is a song I'd recommend. It’s pure awesomeness.

Linkin Park - Meteora
Released In 2003

Linkin Park is a band that has been through quite a few sound changes throughout their career. Whether you like them or not they do have quite a bit of talent. Meteora is probably the best, fleshed out representation of the band with the more rap/rock sound they originally had. This album is really well done. It has a lot of the characteristics of songwriting and ability that I think makes a lot of people really enjoy Linkin Park and why the band has lasted as a band.
