Talking Music: Any Album/Any Era/Any Genre (January 2014)

So the weekend in the website/blog world usually just doesn't have a lot going on. So instead of making our readers sit around and wait until Monday for something cool I'm launching a weekend feature. The feature is quite simple. It's called Talking Music: Any Album/Any Era/Any Genre. I will be posting this feature on the weekend. It might be something only available on vinyl, a single, an EP, an album, something old, something new, etc... At this time I can promise you'll see this feature at least once a month. I may do more just depending on schedules and time. The music will also be chosen from a ton of different genres that either fit or don't fit your musical taste. For example: you might find The Smiths, Misfits, Youth Of Today, Judge, The Story So Far, The Cool Kids, Blink 182, American Football, Skinny Puppy, Go-Go's, Dashboard Confessional, Jonny Fritz, etc... meaning you will get an eclectic offering. This will also be a great way to talk about some really cool country, rap, punk, hardcore, electronic, etc... releases.  Check out the full feature after the jump.

Released in 1986

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead

This is such a great album. It's hard to decide which album from The Smiths is the best. I really like them all, but this one has always receives the most plays from me. The album artwork, the songs, and the production are all amazing. It's an entire package of an album. If you've never heard it you really should check it out.
Released in 1989

Judge - Chung King Can Suck It
If you've never heard of Judge they are one of the key bands that made a big splash in the late 80s early 90s New York straight edge scene. Okay, I'll be honest, this is not the best Judge release, but I wanted to pick it because it has an awesome history. The band hated the album after recording it at Chung King studios. They ended up re-recording the entire album and releasing it as Bringin' It Down. Since this had already been mastered 110 copies were printed on white vinyl. This has become extremely collectible in the vinyl world. Check this out if you've never heard it and learn the history of it.

Released in 2010

Man Overboard - Real Talk

Defending pop/punk since day one Real Talk is probably my favorite album from Man Overboard. "Fantasy Girl" is such a catchy song. The band has released tons of well done catchy pop/punk songs and this album is a super strong debut and it made a big statement for the band and still does.

Released in 2011 (rumored to have been around since 2010)

Snowing - I Could Do Whatever I Wanted If I Wanted

Snowing is becoming something of a current day legend with the whole "emo-revival" talk of late last year flooding into this year. You see this band on a lot of "emo-revival" lists of bands you need to check out. It's important to note the band broke up a while ago. Anyhow this album is a great raw sounding album. The music and vocals feel raw. If you are a fan of mid-late 90s "emo" like American Football and Cap'n Jazz you should really dig this album. It has a great album title as well.

Released in 2006

Hank III - Straight To Hell

This is one of the coolest country albums you will ever hear (IMO). It mixes a little punk in, but there is no mistaking that it is a country album. I like the production, the album artwork, and the songs. Nearly everything about this album screams exceptional. I think it's Hank III at his finest.
