It's that time of the year for mid-year list. The first six month essentials. Check out my picks for the year so far after the jump.

I wanted to take a second to talk about some of my favorite albums and EP's of the year so far now that it is July. For those keeping up July is the seventh month of the year and just slightly past the halfway point so I've decided to compile a quick list of some of my favorite albums of the year so far. This list is not in any particular order. It's also hard to say where any of these will fall in my best of the year list once 2013 is over (as we've still got 5 more months and a few weeks of great upcoming releases). I've also tried to list essential albums and EP's from various genres so the different minded music fans that visit our site can hopefully find something of interest on the list. I tried to keep the list fairly small and not too overwhelming. If you've missed out on any of these I urge you to check them out. As always I'm sure I forgot something I really wanted to put on this list (but hey that's what end of the year lists are for!).
