The Color Morale - Know Hope (REVIEW)
The Color Morale's new album Know Hope is a fairly well constructed metalcore album. I don't find myself compelled to listen to as much metalcore as I did five or six years ago, but this band did a great job capturing my initial interest with some very interesting and neat looking cover art for the album. Upon first listen I found myself enjoying this release more than I thought I would. The album is what you've come to expect from the genre. The music is heavy; it chugs along and has some breakdowns. The album features guttural screaming and clean vocals. Some songs lean more on the clean vocals, while other songs tend to lean on the screaming vocals.
The band's attention to details like the solid artwork, song writing, and production help this album stick out amongst other bands from the genre. Tracks like "Hole Hearted" and "Steadfast" have a quickness and catchiness that holds some good sing-along-ability potential. Those songs mostly lean on the clean vocals. Tracks like "Smoke And Mirrors" tend to focus on the heavier side of the group and produce a high intensity and quick blistering pace.
The Color Morale's new album Know Hope is an accomplishment for the band. They do some things that help them stick out a little, but it does fit comfortably in the genre. The production of the album helps them achieve a good sound. The way the vocals were produced and mixed on this album is something I find that I like a lot about it. I'm not sure Know Hope will catapult The Color Morale into the mainstream, but it should please fans of the band and genre. This album is definitely worth checking out if you are into metalcore.
