Tawny Peaks - Tawny Peaks (ALBUM REVIEW)

I wasn't super familiar with Tawny Peaks prior listening to this album. The interesting album art encouraged me to give this one a listen. I sure am glad I did because overall it's a pretty good album. The new self-titled album by Tawny Peaks is a nice slice of slightly lo-fi indie rock. It's also pretty infectious. The songs on this one are fairly pop, well paced songs that are a little rough around the edges production wise.

"Molehill" is a fast paced song that is a great representation of what the band can do on this album when everything comes together. It's followed up by the slower paced "Ambiguity" which is another really good track that lyrically works out nice for the group. Towards the end of the song the band picks it up at the right moment and the fuzz of the guitar really adds something neat to the end of the song.

The guitar work on the album shines through and really sticks out on this release. The guitar work and vocal performance are a large driving part of this album and it just keeps the infectious pace and draws you into the groove of the rhythm section. This is a great spring/summer time album. I definitely think fans of groups like Beach Fossils would probably enjoy a release like this.
